Introduction and Experience
With a rudimentary understanding and reverence for classical Eastern culture, I recently selected some common elements and symbols of classical Chinese culture: ancient porcelain vases, the Forbidden City, the Imperial Garden, lotus, bamboo, flowers, toads, etc. I combined and arranged these symbols according to my initial intention, forcing myself to abandon and ignore the painting rules and techniques I had already mastered as much as possible, treating every objective detail with the reverence of a baby learning to walk, and creating a series of works with an extremely calm and almost clumsy method.
