Artist Profile

Introduction and Experience
KAMU Sergey & Olga is a creative duo composed of Ukrainian and Russian artists based near Paris since 2003. Their practice explores the concept of duality—the “yin and yang”—through the interplay of contrasting yet complementary forces. Their works juxtapose delicate, idealized female figures with raw, masculine energy of medieval warfare and hunting scenes, creating a tension between passivity and action, dream and reality, the feminine and the masculine.
The duo’s collaboration is defined by a clear technical synergy: Sergey establishes the structural foundation through drawing and engraving-like linework, while Olga shapes the imagery through refined color and luminous figuration, often serving as both muse and model. This interplay produces a signature contrast between richly decorative backgrounds and highly detailed, realistic figures.
Drawing inspiration from medieval stained glass, Gothic reliefs, Renaissance painting, and the Art Nouveau, KAMU combines acrylic, oil, and gold leaf to create layered, timeless compositions. Their work is held in major collections across Russia, Italy, and France, and has been recognized with the Kandinsky Prize and the Paris City Bronze Medal.
