Artist Profile

Introduction and Experience
Ning Tao (b. 1964, China) is a contemporary Neo-Classical oil painter whose practice is grounded in representational painting and the techniques of Western classical oil painting. Integrating these traditions with the aesthetic sensibilities of Chinese culture, he has developed a distinctive visual language that combines classical depth with a contemporary perspective.
In recent years, Ning has focused on the portrayal of Eastern female figures. His subjects possess a quiet and enigmatic presence, while restrained palettes and compositions that balance reality and ambiguity create poetic and introspective atmospheres. These figures transcend portraiture to become evocative metaphors for emotion, memory, and inner consciousness.
Ning’s works have been widely recognized by international collectors and are held in institutional and private collections. His published monograph, The Oil Paintings of Ning Tao, further reflects his distinctive synthesis of classical tradition and Eastern aesthetics.
