Introduction and Experience
Yujiro Ueno’s practice centers on living forms, rendered through a refined combination of acrylic and oil paint. At the core of his work lies the concept of ki: the vital energy through which he explores the flow and interconnection of existence. Viewing matter and spirit as inseparable, Ueno draws upon the philosophy of yin and yang to integrate fundamental dualities such as East and West, past and present, figuration and abstraction, within a single pictorial field.
In Ueno’s work, brushwork serves as a release of sensory energy. His layered techniques establish a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, resulting in a distinctive visual language that feels both ancient and cutting-edge. Through this process, he makes intangible forces perceptible, giving form to the invisible dynamics of nature.
Ueno’s works have been exhibited internationally, including at Gallery Nichido, Art Point Gallery, and 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo, as well as Galerie JOSEPH Minimes in Paris. He has received multiple honors, including the Selected Award (2019, 2020) from Gallery Nichido and the LIQUITEX THE CHALLENGE 20 award.
