Artist Introduction

Introduction and Experience
Zayasaikhan Sambuu, born in Mongolia in 1975, now resides in Japan. His art is rooted in the traditional painting styles of Mongolian and Central Asian nomadic peoples, blending Tibetan spirit with the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, yet expressed through highly contemporary artistic techniques. His subjects mostly depict ancient Mongolian noblewomen or royal women, whose hairstyles and clothing adhere strictly to ancient traditions, resulting in magnificent and dazzling works. Horse painting is also one of his specialties, especially his depiction of the horses' eyes; his love for horses is as deep as that of his nomadic people. Since 1999, he has had at least 6 solo exhibitions, 14 group exhibitions (including art fairs), and 3 museum exhibitions (Mongolia, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia).
