Work Description

With a keen eye for intimate detail, Liu Hanwen portrays a fleeting childhood moment. On a March afternoon, as cherry blossoms reach full bloom, a young boy hurries to tell his grandmother what has happened. His nose is slightly swollen from a mosquito bite, lending a touch of comic alarm to his otherwise endearing expression. The soft fuzz of his hair and the vivid, richly embroidered motifs of his clothing catch the shifting light, bringing warmth and texture to the scene.

Liu combines the luminous quality of acrylic with softly diffused, ink-inspired forms in the background, drawing upon both Eastern and Western approaches. This synthesis creates a richly layered and animated composition. Like a gentle breeze passing through the memories of childhood, the painting evokes warmth, spontaneity, and the lively energy of youth.
