Work Description
Woven in Kashan, Iran, this pure silk carpet was completed by Mr. Mohammadi over four years. An intricate profusion of floral motifs forms the heart of the composition, unfolding like a tranquil garden alive with birds. Peacocks spread their magnificent tails while smaller birds perch among the branches, creating a sense of movement and vitality within the richly detailed scene, as though a fleeting moment in nature had been suspended within the fine silk.
The border interweaves deep crimson, midnight blue, and dark green, creating a richly layered frame of dignity and refinement. Natural dyes derived from madder root, pomegranate rind, and walnut husks lend the colors a deep yet restrained intensity, revealing a profound respect for nature and traditional craftsmanship. More than a carpet, the work unfolds like a classical painting spread across the floor, preserving the poetry of nature and the warmth of history within its woven surface.
Canticle of the Exotic Aviary
At the fingertips of time,
thread crosses thread,
weaving the whisper of the wind
and the dream of wings in flight,
letting color bloom in silence.
The tree of life rises high,
its branches filled with songs
that never fade with time.
Each bird remembers the name of its homeland;
each leaf sways
with stories of yesterday.
Upon the carpet, time stands still,
yet quietly continues to flow,
carrying away the weaver’s labor
and leaving behind
an enduring warmth.
