Work Description

Princess Wencheng's story is a legendary gift from history. Born into royalty, she lived a life of luxury and privilege. Yet, she was unfortunate. The prosperous Tang Dynasty could not contain her yearning for freedom and the soaring of her dreams. Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, one of the greatest emperors in Chinese history, placed the heavy burden of a marriage alliance on her shoulders, thus beginning her tumultuous and tragic life. Undoubtedly, history failed this frail woman. Princess Wencheng's radiant image is intertwined with Buddhism; in the eyes of Tibetan believers, she is "the incarnation of Tara," a Buddha of immeasurable merit, compassion, and solemnity!

Songtsen Gampo passed away at the age of 33, while Princess Wencheng was only 25. The two had only lived together for 10 years. She never forgot her mission, spreading Central Plains culture in Tibet and promoting local development in all aspects.

The widely circulated and beautiful story of Princess Wencheng bestowed upon her a sacred lotus shroud, enabling her to attain Buddhahood instantly and achieve perfect merit! Creating such a solemn historical work also bestows upon Mr. Wang Zhaoju a sense of mission and responsibility! With a heart full of devout compassion, he uses rich and vivid imagery to erect a monument to the meritorious Princess Wencheng, allowing the light of civilization to shine brightly and her compassionate guidance to all! Tashi Delek!

3. Princess Wencheng later led the Tibetans in overseeing the construction of what is now the Jokhang Temple, which quickly became a popular pilgrimage site. Princess Wencheng's radiant image is intertwined with that of the Buddha; in the eyes of Tibetan believers, she is "the incarnation of Tara," a Buddha of immeasurable merit, compassion, and solemnity!

1. Princess Wencheng brought advanced agricultural technology, medicine, exquisite handicrafts, books, and other achievements of civilization from the Tang Dynasty to Tibet, accelerating the civilization process in Tibet. She must have also been influenced by Buddhism before her arrival. After Songtsen Gampo's death, she remained in Lhasa and was deeply loved by the Tibetan people. The power of her Buddhist faith purified her soul; the peaceful highlands were far more suitable for spiritual cultivation than the bustling city of Chang'an.
