In his monumental ten-meter oil painting The Hearth of No Return, Wang Zhaoju depicts the whitewashed walls, dark-tiled roofs, misty mountains, and everyday life of southern Anhui's Huizhou region. Ancient villages, passing fishing boats, playing children, and slow-moving water buffalo unfold across the vast composition, while 81 figures together form a sweeping portrait of human life and memory.
