The hair bun and ponytail are signature motifs in Yu Lienchun’s practice, and this work is titled Hair Bun Girl in reference to its distinctive silhouette. Beyond its sleek contours and flowing textures, the sculpture subtly emphasizes the orientation of the bun, achieving a visual balance that is both harmonious and lively. 

On closer inspection, the visible fingerprints and inherent tension of the clay reveal the unique character of Yu’s Terracotta originals, integral to the authentic spirit of his art.
