Work Description
Yu Lienchun eschews traditional carving tools, instead translating the immediacy of sketching into sculpture. Working solely with his hands, he preserves the raw texture and rhythmic vitality of Terracotta—an inherent warmth unattainable in wood or stone carving.
Each figure—whether kneeling, seated, or standing—embodies a gesture that quietly stirs the heart. What appears as textured Terracotta becomes, through his artistry, an evocative expression of feminine grace and allure, imbued with emotional depth that is both subtle and profound.
The Iron-welding Tenderness series extends Yu’s Terracotta explorations into a new material language. Born from the visionary tension between metal and Terracotta, these works fuse hardness with softness, and conflict with harmony. When Terracotta encounters iron, it sparks a delicate yet powerful dialogue—a lyrical expression forged in steel.
