Work Description
Conquering the Earth was conceived as a creative evolution following the completion of Domineering the World. Wang Zhaoju arrived at the idea during a discussion with a collector in Taipei, envisioning a new monumental work centered on Genghis Khan. He intentionally crafted it as a “twin counterpart” to the earlier work—forming a dialogue between stillness and motion. The title itself was chosen to parallel the previous piece, ensuring the two works resonate in both momentum and philosophical depth.
Facing a ten-meter-wide canvas, Wang orchestrated a sweeping spectacle of galloping horses and thunderous war drums, with the warhorses serving as the core force driving the painting’s dynamic tension. The composition underwent rigorous revisions: the commanding presence of Genghis Khan astride a white horse anchors the primary focal point, while secondary visual centers ensure a balanced, symphonic whole. Through this meticulous process, the figures ultimately resonate in a unified flow of energy, culminating in an epic masterpiece that integrates historical gravitas with surging kinetic power.
